Education, experience, qualifications and/or training:

·       High school diploma or equivalent required.

·       Bachelors degree in Chemical, Mechanical or other equivalent by experience

·       10+ years operational experience in a refinery or similar plant

Job Summary / Overview:

The Scientific Technician will focus on continuous improvement in order to keep the plant safe, to be cost effective and to run at an optimal level. Managing production planning and the execution of cross-departmental activity by defining the actions, resources and time frame required to achieve the established objectives. He supports the Operations department, Chief Operations Officer/Plant manager.

Essential Job Functions:

·         ·         Promote continuous improvement in: safety, energy efficiency, sustainability, worker productivity, reliability, production, profitability, and quality.

·         Controlling the application of safety and health policies, measure and detect variances and take appropriate corrective measures.

·         Monitoring quality control data to ensure product, company, and governmental compliances standards are met.

·         Coordinating effective communication and support between shift supervisors, and between operations, engineering, and maintenance.

·         Evaluating problems and coordinate resolutions in an expedient manner.

·         Maintaining daily production levels and review the daily log sheets for discrepancies.

·         Lead, delegate, ensure follow-up to all critical operation matters.

·         Ensure close coordination with maintenance, supply, trading, and logistics.

·         Oversee activities directly related to making products or providing services.

·         Ensure the safe, reliable and environmentally sound operation of the manufacturing units.

·         Set standards and maintain accountability within areas of responsibility.

·         Prioritize area maintenance and capital improvement activities.

·         Develop and adhere to area operating expense budget.

·         Identify, implement and maintain the controls associated with the key risks of operation.

·         Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with upper management and staff members as necessary.

·         Ensuring cost effective and efficient operations and achieving the reliability and budget targets

·         Careful follow-up on (production) incidents with a focus on continuous improvement

·         Provide various Operations Department-related reports as needed.

·         Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.

·         Assists other Departments and other administrative personnel as necessary.

·         Perform other tasks as assigned.
