Rolling Process Engineer
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four year degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Material Science or a directly related field of study.
- Three years of industry experience in engineering process support for rolling mill production in steel making.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SQL databases.
- Experience with ibaPDA and ibaAnalyzer software.
- Technical training experience.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams.

Basic Job Functions:
The Rolling Process Engineer provides a support role in the department’s decision making in relation to operations and maintenance of the Hot Strip Mill and supporting equipment or Cold Mill, Galvanizing Line and supporting equipment. The Engineer provides process development and technical support operations for the Hot Rolling Mill or Cold Mill, to ensure optimization of manufacturing processes for steel sheets, customer-specific requirements for new high-end quality steel sheets products, manufacturing reliability, operations, and maintenance requirements. Using data integration and statistical analysis, the Process Engineer monitors and analyzes the rolling process and equipment conditions to draw conclusions driving equipment maintenance, improvements, and upgrades.
The Rolling Process Engineer develops and conducts technical training for the rolling mill team as required for safe and effective mill operation to provide quality steel on time. In addition to other related duties, the Rolling Process Engineer will assume a leading role in process improvement as well as coordinating quality and cost reduction efforts.
Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor’s new sheet mill with advanced steelmaking capabilities and lower carbon emissions. This is a greenfield project, which is estimated to be fully operational after two years of construction. The new steel mill will employee 800 full-time teammates producing up to 3 million tons per year at one of the most technologically advanced sheet mills. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV located in Apple Grove WV.
