Requirements

Education and Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of manufacturing quality experience
  • BS in Engineering or related technical field. Six Sigma (DAMIC) experience a plus.
  • Proficient in data analysis, performance metrics, 8D problem-solving and FMEA.
  • Excellent management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in MS Office

Job Description

Vertiv is hiring a Production Quality Engineer in Ironton, OH who’s primarily responsible will be driving product field quality improvements and for providing direction and support for implementation and continued use of tools and methods utilized in the improvement of system reliability.  The Senior Production Quality Engineer leads the implementation and application of advanced quality processes, methods and tools for all new product development programs, develops and reports critical product metrics for warranty and reliability tracking and works across all product development areas to drive and sustain a strong quality culture across the overall organization.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, coordinates and supports multiple quality improvement projects across these various departmental areas, driving short term and long term, sustainable corrective actions to address product and process issues.
  • Determines the data-driven top customer field issues list and verifies that an owner is assigned and status is reported weekly.  Works with internal teams, including Engineering, Service, Manufacturing/Operations, Sales, Offering Management, and Supplier Quality to resolve quality issues impacting customers.  Generates recommendations for appropriate remedial activities.
  • Visits customers to proactively see installations and document improvement needs.  Visits customers to understand the nature of the issue and get definite corrective action initiated in the organization.  Develops 8D and Customer reports on reported issues. Communicate internally and externally on outcomes of investigations.
  • Tracks shipments of new products, Pareto and report issues and assist in assigning ownership to the problems. Monitors product transfer process and assists with product audit feedback and early field issue reporting.
  • Presents reports to Thermal organization for organization Quality performance.
  • Executes Quality Engineering responsibilities on New Product Development projects, participating on NPDP teams, tracking issues, and ensuring effective resolution. Ensures risk management plans are in place when issues are identified.
  • Leads cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions through problem solving process. Evaluates completed corrective actions and ensures effectiveness of actions.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
