Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must have work experience and technical knowedge and skills in gas, arc, shielded, and non-shielded metal arc welding
  • Must be able to teach vertical and overhead welding processes
  • Must be able to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and welding symbols
  • Excellent attention to detail, a focus on accuracy, and a sense of urgency
  • Must have one (1) year of experience in various forms of pipe welding and pipe systems
  • Must have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the related field (this also has levels of increased knowledge with higher levels of this position)
  • Must demonstrate a high level of customer service and strong communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
  • Must rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Must be able to complete and pass a preplacement welding test
  • Must possess required hand tools necessary to perform tasks assigned

The Pipe Welder is responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding, and welds finishing operations in order to manufacture a product per the customer drawings, specifications, or other form of instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate record keeping as it applies to student attendance and grades
  • Creates and maintains a safe environment at all times
  • Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness
  • Conducts tests on new components, assemblies, and systems based on test criteria as established by the policies and procedures and/or written test plans
  • Maintains accurate records of test results and provides reports of results to management
  • Uses, maintains, and possesses required hand tools necessary to perform task assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned
