Position Type: Full-time, grant-funded, exempt position. Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications: Must have a minimum of five years’ work experience with manual equipment, CNC programming and machine operation. Experience in machining that includes using engine lathes, horizontal mills, vertical mills, grinders, and saws are required. Must be proficient in the application of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, blueprint reading, the machinability of materials and set up of machine shop equipment. Knowledge of CAD/CAM software is required. Strong oral and written skills combined with a team-player attitude are required. Interested individuals must display self-initiative and the ability to work in a team environment. Must be willing to travel statewide to conduct training and visit manufacturing companies to advise of RCBI service offerings. An Associate in a technical field is required. May use a combination of education, certifications, and years’ experience to substitute for degree and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on instruction or training experience is preferred. Oversight and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. Background in industrial maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, or PLCs is a plus.
Duties: Providing instruction for CNC Boot Camps. Designing and providing customized training to meet industry demand; assisting with instruction of Machine Technology/CNC Program and other technical programs including student selection, developing lesson plans; instructing students on a day-to-day basis; maintaining the classroom setting; evaluating student performance; and maintaining attendance and test records. Assisting with clients with technical services. Performing preventive maintenance on shop equipment; maintaining inventory of supplies; working with the RCBI Industry Advisory Council to maintain industry standards. Include day-to-day interaction with all RCBI sites, pertinent day-to-day interaction with RCBI management, intense day-to-day interaction with local and regional customers, ensure partner and industry satisfaction, lead in developing and implementing appropriate procedures and processes to ensure the latest technologies are available. Lead in maintaining a safe and clean facility, assuring all safety procedures are followed. Travel will be required, and candidate may split time at RCBI-Charleston location.
Additional Responsibilities: Programming, set-up and operating CNC and manual machining equipment; maintaining familiarity with new and developing manufacturing processes and materials; assisting industrial sector with advanced metalworking and composite techniques to develop and enhance the regions’ industrial capabilities, and performing other duties as assigned.
