System Specialist

The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI), West Virginia’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center, is accepting resumes for a System Specialist.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the System Specialist, who reports directly to the Director of Information Technology, include constructing and maintaining computer and network systems; operating and maintaining Voice over IP telephony systems; database system development; supporting network administration and applications across statewide RCBI facilities; RCBI Web sites; working with other staff to develop/foster relationships with external RCBI customers and partners; and performing other duties as assigned. Based at the RCBI Huntington Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center, this position requires extensive travel.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree is required; Engineering, Computer Science, Integrated Science and Technology, or Information Systems degrees are preferred. Position requires familiarity with network protocols and advanced networking concepts including firewalls, routers and QoS. Experience with Cisco network gear and tools is a plus. Experience with Joomla, database systems and SQL is also a plus. Experience with network programming, systems administration or Unix/Linux is helpful. Successful candidate must have a high degree of initiative and the ability to work as part of the statewide RCBI team. Experience with Social Media is a plus. A pre-employment background check is required.

Grants Administrative Assistant

The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI), West Virginia’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center, is accepting resumes for a Grants Administrative Assistant.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Assistant include administrative assistance to Finance Office, Grant Writer, Workforce Coordinator and Business Development. Position also assists in coordination of special events and provides backup assistance to Front Desk. Based at the RCBI Huntington Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center, this position requires travel.

Qualifications

Training beyond high school typically in a business, technical or vocational program; five years of related experience; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to use computer software packages including MS Office, Banner and Salesforce database. Experience with reconciling and coding of purchasing card system is required, as is experience with grant development activities including data collection, compilation and analysis. Must have the ability to multi-task as well as work quickly and efficiently under pressure. The ability to network with internal and external grant stakeholders is preferred. Successful candidate must have a high degree of initiative and the ability to work as part of the statewide RCBI team. Experience with Social Media is a plus.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.

Technical Trainer(s) at the Robert C. Byrd Institute

The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI), West Virginia's Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center, is accepting applications for Technical
Trainer(s).

Duties:  The trainer(s) will deliver industry-based training projects including but not limited to Manufacturing Processes, Blueprint Reading, Precision Measurement, Metallurgy, Machining, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance, and CAD/CAM. This position requires identifying and conducting customized technical training based on manufacturers’ needs. Travel is required. 

Qualifications:  Associate/Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent years of industrial experience that include a strong technical background in manufacturing.  Hands-on instruction or training experience highly preferred.  Excellent computer, written and oral communication skills are preferred; with particular emphasis on Manual & CNC machining, CAD including AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks or Solid Edge and CAM including Mastercam, SurfCam, FeatureCam or Virtual Gibbs. The ability to work independently to fulfill duties and responsibilities is necessary and the successful candidate must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and the ability to work as part of the statewide RCBI team.

Public Information Specialist at RCBI

The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI), West Virginia’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center, is accepting applications for a Public Information Specialist. 
Job Summary
Responsible for planning, developing and implementing the RCBI’s marketing strategies, marketing communications and public information activities, both external and internal. Develops and implements support materials in the areas of marketing, communications and public information. Works with the RCBI public information team to effectively and efficiently develop, initiate, and implement solid communications efforts with the media and as well as other identified audiences across the state of West Virginia and the region served by RCBI.

Primary Relationships
The position reports to the Director and serves as a member of the senior management team. Within the Organization, the position has primary working relationships with every member of the RCBI team. Externally the position coordinates, primarily, with the media. The position will be located at the RCBI Huntington Technology Center; however, extensive travel is required.

Duties/Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include:

  • Building awareness of the RCBI mission and services across West Virginia, the surrounding states and service region;
  • Promoting RCBI as West Virginia’s and the Region’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center;
  • Serving as the primary focal point for RCBI to educate about the importance of manufacturing, technology, innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurism; 
  • Serving as internal and external communications support for all  RCBI initiatives;
  • Developing, implementing and distributing informational materials including feature articles, commentaries, editorials, new releases, brochures, newsletters, informational sheets, displays, videos, presentations and promotional ads;
  • Developing and recommending immediate communications responses to current new events;
  • Recommending short- and long-term public information goals and objectives to the Director, and
  • Leading projects as assigned, such special events.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, well-organized and personal sales skills
  • Demonstrated successful experience writing news releases, making presentations and negotiating with media
  • Experience overseeing design and production of print materials and publications
  • Computer literacy in word processing, database management and page layout
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Out-of-town, overnight travel is required
  • A pre-employment background check is required

Other:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the not-for-profit or associated sector
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations preferred. Graduate degree in a related field is desirable
  • Experience working with volunteers is desirable
  • Experience working with the manufacturing industry and/or knowledge of the manufacturing industry a  plus

The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI), West Virginia's Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center, is accepting applications for a Workforce Recruiter at the RCBI Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center in Bridgeport, where the position will be based.

Duties: Providing overall regional (WV and contiguous states) student recruiting and outreach to industrial clients; developing local, regional and national recruiting strategies and resources as well as new and creative recruitment ideas; attaining annual enrollment levels established by RCBI; working to enhance the identity of RCBI and its mission of providing industry-focused technical assistance and customized training to manufacturers and entrepreneurs. Travel is required.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidate should have the ability to make large and small group presentations, as well as work one-on-one with individuals; and work individually or as part of the statewide RCBI team. Candidate should be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook, and how to use audiovisual equipment. Shared Manufacturing Intern at the Robert C. Byrd Institute

Position Type: Part-time temporary position. Maximum 20 Hours per week.

Special Note: Must be student. This position will be located in Bridgeport, WV. 

Qualifications: Must have good mechanical aptitude. Maintenance experience preferred. Experience in machining that includes using engine lathes, boring mills, horizontal mills, vertical mills, grinders and CNC Machines preferred. The ability to program CNC using CAD/CAM, setup and operate all types of CNC equipment preferred. Candidate should be proficient with the use of precision measurement and hand tools. Prefer strong oral and written skills combined with a team player attitude. Interested individuals must display self-initiative, and the ability to work in a team environment is required.

Duties: Will be required to perform cleaning, maintenance tasks, assist with machine setups, all other duties as assigned.
