RCBI Machinist Technology Program
Our nationally recognized program opens a career track for the focused, entry-level machinists needed today by West Virginia’s manufacturers, while laying an economic and professional foundation that will help secure the Mountain State’s future prosperity.
Our technical training program offers rigorous, specialized, hands-on instruction that prepares individuals for immediate employment and lifelong professional advancement. Recognized and certified by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS), the RCBI Machinist Technology Program also prepares our students for individual NIMS certification.
Course Options
RCBI offers technical machinist training through two options:
1. A full-time, 12-month program of intensive study.
2. A part-time, 24-month track offered through evening classes to accommodate individuals who are already in the work force.
In addition to our full- and part-time certification programs, primarily focused on individuals, RCBI will provide customized training of varying lengths to meet manufacturing companies' specific work force needs.
College Degree Option
Students have the option to earn an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Technical Studies degree through joint RCBI programs with the Mountwest Community & Technical College or Potomac State College of West Virginia University. Two-year A.A.S. degrees require, on average, 64 credit hours that full-time students typically earn in four semesters.
Eligibility
The program is available to high school seniors and high school graduates, dislocated workers, welfare-to-work participants, employed individuals, participants in state or privately funded education or training programs, and employers who are expanding the technical capabilities of their present workforce.
Requirements
Applicants to this program must have a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. We will pre-test applicants for math and require applicants to interview with us. Learn more about our requirements on the “Apply” page, linked below.
