CHARLESTON -- Nima Shahab Shahmir of Lewisburg has won the 2017 West Virginia Vanguard Agriculture Design Competition for his environmentally sustainable packaging made from the roots of fungi. Shahab Shahmir’s Future Fungi uses mushroom mycelium to grow organic recycled products and materials in just two weeks.

BRIDGEPORT — The Machinist Technology/CNC Program at the Robert C. Byrd Institute (RCBI) in Bridgeport has earned reaccreditation from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS). The five-year recertification followed a rigorous examination that determined that the RCBI program continues to meet or exceed benchmark quality standards established by NIMS on behalf of the nation’s precision manufacturing industry.
