Workshop to focus on HUBZone advantages

Byrd Institute (RCBI) is joining with the West Virginia District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation to present a free HUBZone workshop March 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the White Sulphur Springs Civic Center.
RCBI receives ARC grant to expand craft beverage industry

The Robert C. Byrd Institute (RCBI) at Marshall University has been awarded a $79,270 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to study the economic impact of the emerging craft beverage industry in central and western West Virginia and develop a strategy for expansion.

Marshall University’s Lewis College of Business will conduct an inaugural WV Innovation and Business Model Competition beginning Thursday, March 14, with a preliminary qualifying competition and concluding Saturday, April 6, with a finals event. The overall winning team will receive a $5,000 cash prize and an expenses-paid visit to the Intuit campus in Mountain View, California.

Charleston – Jordon Masters, owner of Morgantown-based MicroGenesis, a specialty produce greenhouse, is the winner of the 2019 West Virginia Vanguard Agriculture Competition. This is the fifth year for the competition, which is sponsored by the Robert C. Byrd Institute (RCBI). Masters was honored at the annual West Virginia Small Farm Conference in Charleston Friday afternoon.
