Nov. 18, 2015
HUNTINGTON — The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI) hosted the first Startup Weekend West Virginia in partnership with Marshall University’s Lewis College of Business, Advantage Valley and the West Virginia Small Business Development Center.
Funded by Google, Startup Weekends are educational events to encourage entrepreneurs using a collaborative team approach. Over the course of the weekend, participants pitch ideas and work in teams to develop new technology-oriented startups.
More than 80 attendees, including entrepreneurs, coaches, facilitators and judges, participated in Startup Weekend at RCBI Huntington. The event culminated Sunday, Nov. 15, when the teams presented their ideas to a panel of judges. The winning team at Startup Weekend West Virginia developed the concept of a new product that would help consumers find their lost pets.
