Industry partners to join RCBI for apprenticeship celebration

Nov. 9, 2018

Apprenticeship Works at the Robert C. Byrd Institute (RCBI) will celebrate National Apprenticeship Week with industry partners Gestamp and Cyclops Industries.

The event is Tuesday, Nov. 13, at RCBI on Marshall University’s South Charleston campus (100 Angus E. Peyton Drive).

The celebration begins with a breakfast reception at 8:30 a.m., followed by a panel discussion at 9 a.m. RCBI will be joined by representatives from the U.S. Department of Labor, as well as Gestamp and Cyclops Industries. Both South Charleston manufacturers participate in apprenticeship in partnership with the Apprenticeship Works initiative.

During the event, apprentices from both companies will be recognized.

Tours of Gestamp and RCBI will follow. The Gestamp tour is limited to the first 25 people who sign up during the event at RCBI. (No photos or video on the Gestamp tour, please.)

The fourth annual National Apprenticeship Week, which runs Nov. 12 – 18, is an opportunity for companies, trade and industry groups, nonprofit organizations, unions, labor-management organizations, and educational institutions to highlight how apprenticeships prepare American workers for the jobs of today and tomorrow.
