Charleston man joins RCBI staff

Charleston resident Doug Currence has joined the staff of the Robert C. Byrd Institute (RCBI) as a technical trainer with Apprenticeship Works, the National Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship Partnership.
Currence has more than 30 years of industry experience, primarily with American Electric Power’s Central Machine Shop in South Charleston. He is a graduate of West Virginia State University.
Currence also competed as a professional power lifter, winning the International Powerlifting Federation World Masters Championship, in St. Catharines, Canada, in 2011.
As a technical trainer with Apprenticeship Works, Currence works directly with manufacturers to implement registered apprenticeship programs that are customized to fit their needs.
