RCBI offering enhanced 3D Printing/Maker Camps

April 19, 2018

Registration is underway for a series of Maker Camps hosted by the Robert C. Byrd Institute (RCBI). The camps in Huntington, South Charleston and Bridgeport are open to middle school and high school students and offer firsthand experience in 3D design, 3D printing, assembly, coding, soldering, basic electronics, electromagnetism and hydraulics. Campers also will explore careers in manufacturing and technology as they tour a local business, startup or production facility. A makerfest will give campers the opportunity to share their creations – and all they’ve learned – with visitors, family and friends during Friday’s final activities.

The camps run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Dates and locations are:

* Bridgeport: June 18-22

* South Charleston: July 9-13

* Huntington: July 16-20

Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs, an education foundation established by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association International, is again providing support for the camps. The cost is $180, which includes all supplies and lunch each day. Seating is limited, so register now at www.wvmakes.com.
