RCBI to host SkillsUSA manufacturing competitions

April 3, 2018

The Robert C. Byrd Institute (RCBI) once again will host three contests – including the Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) event – during the SkillsUSA West Virginia State Leadership and Skills Conference April 14 in Bridgeport.

Seventeen students from across West Virginia will compete at the RCBI Bridgeport Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center for the state championships in Additive Manufacturing, CNC Milling and Manual Lathe. Awards will be announced that evening during ceremonies at Fairmont State University.

State winners will compete at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference June 25-30 in Louisville, Ky.

SkillsUSA is nationwide collaboration of students, educators and industry representatives joining to ensure a skilled American workforce. SkillsUSA serves high school and college educators and the students they are preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations.

RCBI has participated in SkillsUSA for nearly 15 years, and its staff members volunteer their services to state winners to help them better prepare for the national competition.
