RCBI Celebrates National Manufacturing Day 2013
As part of its celebration of Manufacturing Day 2013, RCBI has scheduled Technology Showcases, Demonstrations and Tours at its facilities statewide, as well as additional events at RCBI Huntington that include a networking-symposium and the West Virginia premiere of a compelling new documentary.
RCBI’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centers in Huntington, South Charleston and Bridgeport will welcome visitors October 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Technology Showcases, Demonstrations and Tours.
"Manufacturing Day is for everyone," said Charlotte Weber, RCBI Director & CEO. "The day’s activities at RCBI will highlight the importance of manufacturing to the nation's economy with special attention focused on today's advanced manufacturing, including Additive Manufacturing with 3D Printers at RCBI. RCBI is proud to play a role in the nationwide resurgence of manufacturing."
"In addition," Weber said, "at the RCBI Huntington facility, we are hosting an exciting Inaugural Event we are calling our Manufacturing Institute Industry Partners Symposium. Our symposium will kick off at RCBI Huntington at 11:30 a.m. with remarks by U.S. Representative Nick J. Rahall followed by networking and discussions over lunch."
The symposium will strategically connect our entrepreneur manufacturers, our STARTUP WV and INNOVATEWV manufacturers, with our academic experts, our government experts and other industry partners to discuss current opportunities in manufacturing, identify opportunities for collaboration and learn about current research activities, Weber said.
The feature-length documentary "American Made Movie" will have its West Virginia premiere screening as well. The compelling new documentary – an exploration of how entrepreneurial, innovative companies are succeeding in the global economy – will be screened Friday at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. at RCBI Huntington, 1050 Fourth Avenue.
"We are excited that our celebration of innovative entrepreneurs will include this timely documentary," Weber said. "With its examples of successful homegrown entrepreneurs, ‘American Made Movie’ serves to underscore the efforts of our re-invigorated manufacturing industry."
Manufacturing Day 2013 finds RCBI again joining a national coalition representing industry to raise awareness about the important role that manufacturing plays in the economy.
"We hope to attract a large crowd at each of our statewide Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centers," said Weber, "as we celebrate manufacturers, entrepreneurs and innovators in West Virginia."
