RCBI Hosts Bridgeport Tech Expo
The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI) will host a Machining & Technology Expo Wednesday, March 21 during an Open House at the RCBI Bridgeport Manufacturing Technology Center, located in the Benedum Industrial Park adjacent to the Harrison-Marion Regional Airport off Rt. 50 in Bridgeport.
Representatives from more than a dozen machine tool vendors and industrial suppliers will join RCBI’s experienced staff to offer equipment and software demonstrations during the day-long event, slated from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
A Job Fair will also be staged in conjunction with the expo. Local companies will participate and provide employment information. RCBI will also provide details about its Machinist Technology Program, which offers nationally recognized and certified (by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills, or NIMS) training that produces certified machinists for immediate employment in the region’s industrial base.
The event will informally kick-off the prior evening, Tuesday, March 20, with a reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the RCBI Bridgeport facility, according to Charlotte Weber, Director & CEO.
“This expo,” Weber said, “offers manufacturers an exciting opportunity to see firsthand some of the latest technology available to them at RCBI. We’ve staged similar demonstrations various times at RCBI’s statewide facilities and always have a really positive reaction from the manufacturers who attend and participate.”
The Bridgeport open house is another in a continuing series of efforts by RCBI to promote and advocate state-of-the-art and state-of-the-market production equipment, technologies and software to manufacturers so they can compete in the global market and succeed.
Known for providing access to the latest manufacturing technology and technical training as well as online business development opportunities, RCBI operates Manufacturing Technology Centers in Huntington, Charleston, Bridgeport and Rocket Center (near Keyser in the eastern panhandle).
